Penetration Sealing
Penetration sealing systems are critical elements of a building’s fire protection system.
Penetrations occur in a building when pipes, cables, ducts or otherwise pass through a building’s wall, floors and ceilings. Naturally, these penetrations leave a hole around the element which, if left unsealed, would allow the passage of fire and smoke. As a result, penetration sealing systems are essential to ensure the fire compartment line is maintained in the event of a fire.
Intumescent and acoustic acrylic sealant which swells when exposed to temperatures in excess of 150°C to prevent the passage of fire and smoke and has a fire rating of up to 5 hours, is typically used for sealing joints, voids and irregular holes in fire walls, partitions and other structures, and for maintaining the integrity of pipes and cables that penetrate them and for use in sealing around fire rated doors and windows.
Fire Doors
Fire doors are specially designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke within a building. These doors are an essential component of passive fire protection systems in various structures, including high-rise residential buildings, commercial premises and industrial facilities. Fire doors play an important role in containing fires, protecting occupants, shielding emergency personnel and providing clear escape routes during a fire.
Fire doors are required by law in all doorways to protect routes which lead to points of egress. They are also legally required in high risk rooms such as commercial kitchens, boiler and utility rooms and IT server rooms.
In order for the fire barrier or compartment to be maintained, a certified fire door must be correctly installed by accredited installers. As third party accredited fire door installers, we can supply and fit fire rated doors to fulfil the fire rating requirements of almost any commercial or residential premises.
Fire-Resistant Partitions
When constructing a building, fire partitioning ensures fire safety by preventing fire spread. These internal walls prevent the spread of fire, for a limited time, so that the fire will be contained at the point of origin within the building. This helps safeguard people within the building to give them enough time to find escape routes, as well as potentially minimising damage to property by affecting as small an area as possible.
Without physical fire resistant barriers, a fire will combust with flammable materials and oxygen and attack the structural integrity of a building, not to mention it spreading across floors. Fire resistant partitions help inhibit such damage by creating containment which checks the spread of fire for a specific predetermined minimum period of time (rating). Fire resistant partitions come with ratings from 30 to 240+ minutes, thus helping to secure the safety of the people within the premises.
